PURPOSE:
The Educational Development Committee is designed to emphasize scholastic achievement and higher academic development, promote service learning, foster college preparation and planning, and award college scholarships.

PROGRAMS:

Δ Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy for females ages 11-14

The goals of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy are to offer mentoring, educational activities and service learning opportunities for girls with a particular emphasis on mathematics, science and technology and to help young girls to excel and pursue careers in these areas.

Δ Dr. Jeanne L. Noble GEMS Institute for high school females
The primary goals of the Dr. Jeanne L. Noble GEMS Institute are to provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success and to assist in the proper goal setting, decision making and planning for their futures.

Δ EMBODI for young “men” ages 13-18
Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (EMBODI) was created to address the educational, social, and emotional obstacles that plague African American males. The monthly workshops focus on cultural/academic enrichment, boosting self-confidence, image, violence, relationships, health and economic empowerment.

Δ PEACE (Parents Empowered Active Children Education) – for parents of Delta Academy, Delta GEMS and EMBODI participants
