With a membership of over 768 members, our goal, first and foremost, is to serve the needs of the community. I am humbled to serve as President of this dynamic chapter.
Chartered December 1979 by 32 forward-thinking members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the East Point/ College Park Alumnae Chapter has consistently made a positive impact in the Metro-Atlanta area for four decades. An award-winning chapter, our members strive to LEAD – Listen, Engage, and Actively Deliver to the residents of South Fulton, Clayton, and Fayette Counties, as well as the state of Georgia, the nation, and the world.
Through our Sorority’s Programmatic Thrust – Educational Development,Economic Development, Physical and Mental Health, International Awareness and Involvement with a keen focus on social action, East Point/College Park Alumnae Chapter consistently listens to the communities we serve to increase awareness and provide beneficial and impactful programs to the youth, senior citizens, families, and young adults we engage.
Local involvement includes, but is not limited to, our Educational Development programs of Delta GEMS, EMBODI, Delta Academy, as well as our Jabberwock Cotillion where we provide scholarships to the participants. Our Social Action initiatives include political forums and voter registration/education drives.
Economic development is key to a thriving community. Through our financial workshops, entrepreneurial programs, and vendor fairs, we seek to empower individual and small businesses.
Our Physical and Mental Health Committee presents programs on improving one’s mental health through seminars on depression. 5K walks/runs in partnership with other Divine 9 organizations, and community partners provide physical activities while providing financial support to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and others.
We count it an honor and privilege to serve those in the community. We appreciate the partnerships we have developed to help meet the needs of our residents – St. Jude’s Hospital, American Cancer Society, AARP, etc.
As a sisterhood devoted to public service, we also take time to fellowship and enjoy the arts and social activities. Our annual events –Kwanzaa Celebration, Kuumba Tribute, Red Ribbon Bingo, and Café Delta allow us to not only share with each other in a fun environment but with the community as well. We hope you will consider joining us for these events in the future.
