The purpose and mission of the Political Awareness Committee is to promote leadership, advocacy and empowerment to affect social change and public policy. Social Action is a vehicle through which the Sorority establishes a position on an emerging or perennial public issue, determines the action to be taken, and directs than actions of members, chapters, and representatives bodies. The committee implements programs that stimulate social action and educate members and the community on current issues. Some of the programs we have implemented and participated in are:

  • Political Forums and Town Hall Meetings

  • Voter Registration and Voter Mobilization

  • Debate Watch Parties

  • Nursing Home Visits

  • Adopting Families for the Holidays

  • Contribution to Hurricane Relief Fund

  • Annual Donation to Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless

  • Delta Days at the Nation’s Capital

  • Delta Days at the State Capital

  • Co-sponsoring political advocacy events with other groups such as Rainbow/PUSH, NAACP, League of Women Voters and Georgia Legislative Black Caucus
