The
purpose and mission of the Political Awareness Committee is to
promote leadership, advocacy and empowerment to affect social
change and public policy. Social Action is a vehicle through
which the Sorority establishes a position on an emerging or
perennial public issue, determines the action to be taken, and
directs than actions of members, chapters, and representatives
bodies. The committee implements programs that stimulate social
action and educate members and the community on current issues.
Some of the programs we have implemented and participated in
are:

Voter Registration and Voter Mobilization

Debate Watch Parties

Nursing Home Visits

Adopting Families for the Holidays

Contribution to Hurricane Relief Fund

Annual Donation to Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless

Delta Days at the Nation’s Capital

Delta Days at the State Capital
-
Co-sponsoring political
advocacy events with other groups such as Rainbow/PUSH,
NAACP, League of Women Voters and Georgia Legislative Black
Caucus
